MTP® Adapters
The standard MTP brand adapter is what you'll find in the back of any MTP cassette. You'll also find them in a 4- or 6-pack MTP brand adapter panel. It essentially allows you to connect two MTP cable assemblies together (male and female). Standard MTP brand adaptors are usually black whereas secure MTP brand adaptors have several different colors in order to match connectors with adaptors. If you want a longer MTP brand run, try using a adapter, but you'll need male (pinned) and female (unpinned) connectors to accomplish it.
Secure MTP® Brand Adapters
MTP brand secure adaptors are another technology (see left). They are just like the secure MTRJ adaptors in that they're "keyed" identifiable by color. We currently offer 4 different types of secure MTP brand adaptors: Green, Yellow, Red, and Blue. Each adaptor can only accept connectors with that same "key" or color.
This provides end-users with peace of mind knowing that their fiber infrastructure is safe from intruders trying to steal data through their hardware. Basically, if someone wants to steal your data by unplugging your secure MTP brand cable and trying to plug in their own, they will not be able to since the adaptors are keyed differently from standard. Just another line of defense for your network infrastructure.
Shuttered MTP® Brand Adapters
In 2007, US Conec released a shuttered MTP brand adapter that offers superior dust protection versus current products on the market. The MTP brand shuttered adapter has a spring loaded shutter door that is easy to operate and provides protection from airborne particulates, greatly reducing the time required for installation, testing and troubleshooting. A unique O-ring seal design keeps out signal degrading debris from the optics under the most extreme conditions.
The adapters were placed in a sealed chamber and subjected to 0.12 liter of ISO Arizona Road Dust that circulated for 10 minutes while blown by a fan per the requirements of GR-326 with no contamination permeating the O-ring seal. The new adapter design also passed typical tests for thermal aging, vibration, impact and durability.
